The Best American Nonrequired Reading series edited by Dave Eggers definitely has a permanent place in my shelf. If you want an eclectic anthology of fiction & nonfiction work, I highly recommend any one of their annual editions. Perfect for someone who sometimes has a short attention span like me.

The introduction as well as the cover art are always done by guest writers and artists. In previous years, guest intros have been written by Matt Groening, Judy Blume, Beck, David Sedaris, just to name a few. Artists such as Adrian Tomine, Maurice Sendak, and Banksy have contributed cover art.

I still have yet to complete my own collection of past editions but I just found out the one for 2011 is set to release this October with an introduction by Guillermo del Toro! Best believe I pre-ordered that shizz.
